LEST WE FORGET: Howard Government Allowed Siev-X 353 To Die
Tony Kevin's new book A Certain Maritime Incident, provides the smoking gun to nail John Howard. Listen to him on Late Night Live as he details Howard's lies and the government's complicity in the sinking of the Siev-X. Kevin's interview is the third part of this LNL program, and begins around 32 minutes in. --HH |
Letters to the dailies on Children Overboard 2004
Here's an excerpt from one: "If the Prime Minister of a sovereign state can't even perform some simple processes of verification and critical analysis and instead, as he claims, just does what he's told and fails to look beyond the tip of his nose, the debate over whether he lied becomes less important in the lead-up to this election because, quite frankly, he's a self-confessed idiot." Downer Does Pyongyang, Pisses Off Taiwan, Tugs Forelock At China, Cops Hiding From US
It's been a big week for Non-Core Magoo's extremely foreign minister, Alexander "Kewpie Doll" Downer. Before making his "diplomatic" mission to North Korea, he announced to the world that its psychotic leader could easily nuke Australia. Sometime in all this he visited Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing and, in keeping with his party's lusty obeisance to authority, promptly fell at the supreme leader's feet and promised not to take the American's side if push came to shove over Taiwan. Well, no sooner had he finished gushing his newfound love for Chinese hegemony over Taiwan than his masters in Washington grabbed him by the ear. "Listen, buster, you're working for our empire, not theirs."
Even General Greg Sheridan, The Australian's Correspondent for "War, What Isn't It Good For," said the ageing adolescent was reverting to his old, gobsmackingly incompetent ways.
Earlier (or during or to begin with), Downer had wasted both his time and the time of his North Korean counterpart, a certain Paek Nam-sun, in a fizzled mission to prove what a great but extremely foreign minister he is. When confronted by reporters who suggested his "nuke" comment probably sealed the mission's failure, he stamped his high-heel pumps all over the floor and screeched his fervent denial of such an absurd interpretation.
What really grated Downer is that he didn't get to share a balloon of Cognac with the only man in the world weirder than he, Kim Jong-il. Rumour has it Downer was prepared to offer as free hard labourers, every man, woman and child currently incarcerated in the Coalition's detention centres for a petit dégustation of Remy Martin Louis XIII. Were Dear Leader to have agreed, he was further prepared to throw in a couple of leaky boatloads of Labor voters from key marginal seats for a mere sniff of "Timeless," a blend of eleven Hennessey cognacs dating from 1900 to 1990, and worth $5000 a bottle on the US market.
Alas, nothing was accomplished except a further drain on the taxpayer's pocket book. At least Downer's wife got to shop til she dropped in downtown Pyongyang, where she was able to purchase at a bargain the latest model 8-track player with a box of Kamahl tapes. --HH |

| Chavez to Bush: ¡No Pasaran! "We know Chavez will win. We have waited for this President for too long to lose him now." --Pastora Sivira, primary school teacher in Caracas, Venezuela What a pity we don't have someone like that to barrack for. Hugo Chavez had the temerity to pour millions of Venezuela's oil money into making life better for the poor. For his efforts he has been hounded by a George W. Bush-backed opposition and forced into a recall election. Perhaps things have improved on that front, though. The Americans simply had Chile's Allende assassinated. At least they're allowing Chavez to live.
But even though he won the recall election by a sizeable majority, and the election was cleared of any fraud by Jimmy Carter and his international team of observers, the opposition is still claiming fraud. They just refuse to believe their threats didn't work.
Let's face it, the rich hate Chavez, which means the media hate him, big business hate him, and above all the Bush junta cannot tolerate any leftist concern for the wretched of the earth.
So, until Hugo Chavez is assassinated, Venezuela joins Spain and the Philippines in the tiny group of three nations who have recently refused to submit to the grip of right wing ideology which has suborned the world. --HH |

ILLIBERAL PARTY DIRECTIVE TO ALL AUSTRALIANS:
"Attention! Your attention, please!
"You, the Australian people, do not care about the latest children overboard allegations. You want to move on. You are fed up with all this irrelevant carping and nagging about whether the Prime Minister lied or not.
"You will, by now, be sick and tired of the bleating of those on the treasonous left who keep trying to lead you into the socialist darkness with talk of democratic ideals. You do not care about democracy. You care only for your own welfare and the welfare of those in authority. We therefore urge you to resist, by whatever means necessary, this perverted attempt to destroy your relaxed and comfortable Fatherland.
"The forces of evil, represented by the Labor Party, The Greens, The Democrats, and most independents, like to tell you that we are always treating you like mugs. Remember, that is their term, not ours. Do not be offended. Above all, do not worry. We know what is best for you. We know that deep down you are relieved to belong to the greater hive mind that makes up this great country. How else are we to build a society fit for the privileged few whose authority over you has significantly increased your ability to consume? This prosperity has not been brought about by feeble concepts such as having a "social conscience," and you know it, and are glad of it.
"You love us for taking away the tiresome responsibility of having to make moral decisions for yourselves. You need not be concerned with the scum in detention centres or truth in government. Those are issues of propaganda with which the Communists in the Labor Party seek to sap the strength of your dedication to our Noble White Australia as it was ordained by God The Father through His Messengers in the Lyons Forum.
"Never forget, that if the Labor Party were ever again to wrest power from we, the party born to rule, their first directive would be to claim your first born children for servants. As many of you are aware, particularly those of you who abide in Gunnedah and Gympie, we have conclusive proof that they dine regularly on unborn foetuses.
"Finally, we know you will return us to power whenever the Prime Minister calls the election, because we did you the service of putting you to sleep in 1996 and only waking you from time to time to generously fill your pockets. And that's why you love us. Because you are safe and secure in our pocket.
"Be steadfast! Be patriotic! Be Illiberal!"

Our Citizen Above Suspicion A Hero To Entry Level Humans by Harold Hark 18 August 2004
John Howard supporters are a truly repugnant lot. Like etiolated insects who live under rocks, they have been encouraged to scamper about in the light of day for over eight years, hissing and hating at the call of their master. But every insect, even the Frankenstein monsters Howard has breathed longevity into, has a terminally short lifespan.
But before they start dropping like, er, flies, they are mounting a last ditch battle to defend their creator's credibility. Or rather to discredit anyone who questions it. One such insect was heard from yesterday: Max "The Axe" Moore-Wilton. More... | Tuesday, 17 August 2004

Beazley Cheated By A Racist Liar
You had to feel for Kim Beazley on Lateline last night. Here was a man who, for better or worse, should have been Prime Minister since 1998. That year he won the popular vote, but lost key marginal seats. And in 2001 John Howard stole the election with a lie that reinforced xenophobia and racism. Of course, Beazley's cooperation over border protection didn't help.
When asked how he felt about the stolen election, Beazley did the honourably Stoic thing and said it didn't matter. What mattered was that the Prime Minister who did win should now be held to account for the manner in which he committed his theft.
As Gavin R Putland said in a letter to The Australian today: --HH"...the Howard Government seems to have discovered a new kind of safe lie: the lie that people want to believe because it gives them a plausible, respectable excuse to support policies that they really want for baser reasons. Tell us that those Muslim reffos threw their kids in the drink, because we don't want them here.
"This kind of lie can deal with objective, verifiable facts, because if the liar is found out, the people will still give him credit for having tried. Those who are trying to nail Howard for lying about children overboard are therefore wasting their time.
Howard understands that most voters condone lies against those whom they wish to maltreat." Why The Neo-Nazi Mentality Loves Howard
Intention is all, and Howard's intentions in the children overboard affair were pure evil. Along with Philip Ruddock and Peter Reith, he promoted the myth that refugee parents were capable of throwing their children into the ocean. The inference was that white, Christian parents would never do such a thing, but non-white, non-Christian parents would. The demonisation of these people (and the banning of all photographs to show their desperate human faces) followed to the letter Hitler's maniacal propaganda against Jews, gypsies, homosexuals and the handicapped in WWII.
When Howard's supporters go to the polls it is Hitler's legacy they will in part be voting for, that of legitimising fear of The Other. --HHGive Howard A Polygraph And It Would Explode
Mike Scrafton, the man who may be the catalyst for giving us our country back, said on The 7:30 Report (see also: Michael Brissendon's introductory report) that he would be happy to take a polygraph on his assertions. Were John Howard to follow suit, the machine would beat the Cassini space probe to Pluto.
But judge for yourself.
On PM (this link is to the transcript), you can listen to a calm Mike Scrafton and a clearly panicked John Howard interviewed by Steve Lewis:
• Real Audio • Windows Media
If that's not enough, listen to Tony Abbott earlier in the day writhing and sweating on The World Today (again, the transcript) as he tries to defend the indefensible:
• Real Audio • Windows Media
It's painful, I know, but instructive. You are listening to quintessential liars who have been caught out. Bring on the polygraph! --HH |

Roasting Howard: Scrafton's Letter Lights The Fire by Harold Hark 16 August 2004This morning's revelation by Mike Scrafton, former senior adviser to then defence minister Peter Reith, that John Howard knew there were no children overboard but still claimed there were to the National Press Club and the nation, effectively removes the PM's last shred of credibility. The man who has institutionalised lying, not only in the political arena, but in all the affairs Australians conduct among themselves, will himself become the only BBQ stopper in town as we endure the long, long weeks ahead. Ross Cameron: Yet Another Family Values Hypocrite by Harold Hark 16 August 2004Like other Illiberal MPs who were born yesterday and who keep demanding we conform to a medieval morality long discarded, Cameron can't stop talking about "family values". Experience shows us, however, that this phrase goes hand in hand with repressive right wing ideology. It stems from a Dick and Jane interpretation of the Bible. Human evolution? God forbid. And that's just Who the Camerons' of this right wing world invoke for their regressive policies. More... | Sunday 15 August 2004
John Valder: Howard an autocrat who is destroying democracy within Liberal Party
Interviewed on Ninemsn's Sunday programme by Barking Graham Davis, John Valder, former President of the Liberal Party, has denounced John Howard in no uncertain terms. Valder is running against Howard in the little dictator's seat of Bennelong. He claims that 6000 votes is all he needs to unseat the incumbent. Following are some choice Valder quotes from the interview: --HH...we think John Howard has done something very damaging to the Liberal Party over the last 10 years. He has just steadily and progressively moved the party further and further to the right and a lot of us feel he has stolen the party from us.
I think they're considered to be the principal villains, Howard, Downer, Ruddock and Tony Abbott.
Who would ever have thought that this harmless, supposedly harmless, suburban solicitor would be wielding such power today, over the party, over the public service, over the intelligence organisation, over all those government bodies to which he's appointed his own mates? He is, in my opinion, the most powerful prime minister in, certainly in my day, and my day's fairly long. Including Menzies.
I hear people using words like "dictator". Now when did the word "dictator" last get used in the Australian political vocabulary?
I think anybody who's behaved like that over Tampa, over his position on Iraq, all of these things put together, right through to his treatment of the detainees, the way he falls at the feet of George Bush again and again and again, I do think make a lot of people consider him to be a grubby PM.
If killing or maiming and injuring hundreds of thousands of innocent people isn't a [war] crime, I don't know what a crime is. Valder ends the interview with fears that Young Liberals may be lurking under rocks and behind bushes to rough him up. Sound wacky? Change Young Liberals to Hitler Youth and it doesn't sound strange at all. After all, that is just where John Howard is taking the Liberal Party. Sunday: "Not Happy, John" |
