Terrorists excluded from Mullah John's Australiastan

The zeal of Mullah John

If you think the Taliban are stuck in the Dark Ages, wait until you get a third term of Mullah John Howard. Of course it won't be easy for the Anglican Mullah, but now that 77 per cent of Australiastanis are behind his bullying of the Tampa refugees there's no stopping him. Or his "clerics" at the Lyons Forum for that matter. For an example of the long repressive road Howard has to go before catching up with the Taliban, click on the image below to see the Four Corners program:

Behind the Veil

Mullah John doesn't want her either.

Perhaps I've gone too far here. This poor girl's grief could never be duplicated in Australia. Or could it? If I'm guilty of playing on your emotions, then just remember the people of Bosnia and Kosovo never believed it could happen to their children either. Me, I find the direction the Howard government is taking to be the same as the Taliban, if to a much lesser degree. It could be fatally naive to believe the talkback callers here would not resort to Taliban-style atrocities.

Here's a sad, hard fact. People are the same all over the world. What distinguishes nations are their leaders. You get a Howard or a Mulla Omar or a Milosevic and you wind up with bigotry and racism and worse. With leaders who don't play to the lowest common denominator, these ghastly attributes remain dormant. That's the best we can hope for. Every nation is capable of following a Hitler.

Both the Howard and Taliban regimes share a fear of modernity and a fanatical desire for strict law and order. Religious zeal has permeated this government's censorship laws, already established online and in film classification. Suppression of dissent is just around the corner. Mullah John has been trying to get women out of the work force and back into the home for years. He refused to sign the United Nations declaration on the rights of women, and nothing his government has done has increased their choices. The Taliban, which of course is made up exclusively of males (as is the Lyons Forum, with the exception of a handful of genetic males posing as women), have completely succeeded in marginalising women to the point of condoning inter-family honour killings of women and girls who get out of line sexually, or executing them publicly. But the Taliban would have to give our Mullah kudos for his attempts thus far. And they would certainly champion his exclusion of the refugees they failed to execute from defiling our shores.

As well, they would champion the absence of logic, or should that be political expediency, or plain stupidity, behind the decision to move the refugees to Nauru. Something like $170 million has been spent to prevent their icky feet from assaulting the sacred white sands of Aryan Australia.

For a succinct summary of Howard's folly in sending the boat people to Nauru, read the following Age editorial.

Heil Howard

For the last couple of weeks I've been sporting a "Free the Refugees" button on my jumper. Before that I merely greeted local shopkeepers, friends and acquaintances with a limp raising of my right arm from the elbow and a softly spoken "Heil Howard".

After the reactions to the button I may combine the two, because quite clearly most people don't like its message.

The checkout chick at Coles, of obvious Polynesian descent, was friendly until she noticed the button. From that moment eye contact ceased and she handed me the docket with her back turned.

The Tatts seller, a Middle Easterner, exhibited such hostility that I checked my tickets afterward to make sure he hadn't sabotaged them.

The pet shop owner, as white as they come, positively bristled.

A couple who run a food outlet nearby vehemently denounced the refugees as queue jumpers. They wanted to know how I felt when someone jumped ahead of me at the supermarket. Angry as hell, I replied, but then there is a slight difference between the two sorts of queue jumpers. Perhaps this distinction is hard to work out for Illiberals.

The anti-Communist rhetoric of the Menzies era has been updated to "national sovereignty". Mullah John's followers are suckers for Big Brother because the responsibility of freedom frightens them.

Not being one to avoid a confrontation, I intend to conclude these encounters henceforth with the above salutation with intent to make them squirm or at least respond with the typical right wing grunt.

"The core supporters of the Nazis and their racist policies were small businessmen, lower-echelon public servants, farmers, alienated ex-servicemen and unemployed youth, all of whom were victims of brutal cuts in public spending instituted by conservative governments during the Depression. Hitler, it should be emphasised, had been relegated to the lunatic fringe of politics during the relative prosperity and political consensus of the late '20s." Deputy Sheriff Magoo wants you!

Deputy Sheriff Magoo

(to vote for him)

Now that he has found happiness wearing Pauline Hanson's knickers, Mullah John's worldview, normally as broad as the rock under which he lives, can now be extended to the nihilism such a view secretly craves. As Deputy Sheriff Magoo, he's committing the resources of Australiastan to the service of America. In another few months he'll have a whole slew of young high school graduates to offer up in the name of getting him re-elected. As one letter writer to The Australian said, "First it was 'all the way with LBJ' -- now it's 'With Georgie Bush to the Hindu Kush.'"

Dubbya (yes I still spell it with two bees) has proved he can read by admirably following the autocue of his speechwriter's words. While short on detail, his speech to the nation did what it was supposed to do: rally the already rallied.

To be fair, and not simply to be a carping smart-arse in view of the horrifying slaughter in New York, there was little else he could do and he did it well. But it can not be said enough that a half century of American crimes against the world have seeded a terrorist mentality that is so saturated with hate that it seems almost invincible.

As for John Howard, no matter what name we wish to call him, the inauthentic weasel who is still uncomfortable in his funny little body and who still cannot walk like a man now appears to be on the road to re-election. Despite nearly six years of corporate-style mismanagement and flagrant disregard of ethics. As to his government's historic incompetence, the Jackie Kelly fiasco is little more than a "blip" on its screen.

Beazley, we hardly knew ye

It's not surprising to see the normally dormant scum at the bottom awakening to find idolatry of the scum at the top. These are the people who have historically joined tyrannies to torture and murder the intelligentsia. They did it for Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Ceaucescu, Mao, Milosevic. And now they have put their hands up for The Prime Minister Whose Name Should Never Be Spoken.

It is, however, a tragedy of immense proportions to stand by and watch Kim Beazley's abject capitulation. Unlike many of you who know that Labor long ago forsook the ideals of the true believers, I still thought Labor was better than the Huns in the Illiberal Party. That may still be true, but the man I have been referring to as the Prime Minister in waiting is no longer credible. It must have been the same feeling for the good-hearted commos of the old days, when they finally understood where Stalin had taken everything they believed in.

In rejecting the role of hero for pragmatic politics, in choosing to cosy up to Howard in order not to rouse the rabble against Labor, Beazley has become a sadly deflated non-event. For those of us with a social conscience, an honourable Labor defeat would have been far preferable to a dishonourable defeat. As for the voters Beazley is trying not to alienate, why would they choose a mealy-mouthed, shadow bigot when they can vote for the real thing? The 77 per cent who support Howard's stance against "terrorist refugees" are not going to turn to Labor because it represents a softening of the hardline by .0001 per cent. Hell, let's ride the bomb with Mullah John.

Thus voters with a social conscience are left with no leadership. In despair, they must turn to the Greens, a party which may henceforth become their choice for government, but which cannot hope to break the grip of major party control.

It now seems likely that the degradation of Australia will continue for another three years. If anti-American terrorists and anti-terrorist Americans don't bomb us back to the Stone Age, I wonder what this country will be like at the end of it.

There is always the Winston Smith option.
